Born and raised in Utah by Somali immigrant parents, I was taught early on that our community's strength comes from our neighbors. I’ve spent my career learning how power works so I could effectively challenge it. At the American Heart Association, I didn’t simply advocate, I delivered. I helped pass laws that guarantees life-saving CPR training in Utah high schools and extended postpartum Medicaid from 60 days to a full year for Utah mothers.
In the tech sector, I worked on data center sustainability policy at Meta. Most recently, I served on TikTok’s public policy team, fighting to protect 224,000+ jobs. But when I saw corporate interest being prioritized over the public’s interest and the safety of our democracy, I didn’t stay silent—I resigned. I walked away because my integrity isn't for sale, and I believe your representation shouldn't be either.
I’ve come home to Salt Lake County because we don’t need more politicians who manage our decline or bow to the billionaire class. We need a fighter ready to confront them. I’m running to build a government that guarantees healthcare as a human right, restores the power of labor so families can thrive, and puts our democracy back where it belongs: in the hands of the people.
